Backlinks help Google judge how trustworthy your site is. This tab shows your backlink profile and that of competitors. Each check is fetched when you click the button and costs 1 credit. The last result stays visible, with the date it was fetched.

1. General info

Enter a web address (your own site is filled in) and click Check backlinks.

You see:

  • Domain rank (0 to 1000): the authority of the domain.
  • Backlinks and Referring domains: ten links from ten sites carry more weight than ten links from one site.
  • Nofollow domains, Spam score (lower is better), Broken backlinks, and backlinks New and Lost in the last 30 days.
  • Top anchor texts, and the countries, link types and domain extensions of the linking sites.

Once your own domain is checked more than once, Trend shows how your profile grows.

2. Domains

Which websites link to a site, with their rank and number of links. From the second check you see which domains were added or disappeared. Spread by domain rank shows whether your links come from strong or weak sites.

3. Pages

Which pages of a site have the most backlinks. That shows which content attracts links.

4. New & lost

How many links and referring domains a site gained and lost per month, as a chart over time.

5. Broken links

Links from other sites to pages on your domain that no longer exist. Each row is link value you win back with a redirect from the old address to a working page.

6. Mentions

Pages that mention your brand name without linking to you. Someone who already mentions you takes little convincing: one email can turn it into a link. Tick Only without a link to see only those.

7. Tips

  • Check your own site regularly to follow the trend.
  • Use Broken links first: redirects are the quickest win.
  • For competitor link opportunities, see Competitors.
